MORE THAN THE MUSIC

For many of us, raving is about far more than going out.

It can be where we feel most alive. A place of music, movement, freedom, friendship, connection and belonging. A space where we can let go of everyday pressures and reconnect with parts of ourselves that don't always have room to breathe in the rest of our lives.

But life isn't always as good as it looks on the dancefloor.

You might be struggling with anxiety or depression. Your relationships might feel difficult. You may be carrying things from your past that continue to affect you now. Perhaps you're feeling lonely, overwhelmed, lost or unsure where your life is going.

Or maybe something about your relationship with raving, alcohol or substances has started to change.

Whatever is going on, you don't have to leave an important part of yourself at the door when you come to therapy.

THERAPY WITH SOMEONE WHO GETS IT

Talking to a therapist about rave culture can sometimes feel difficult.

You might worry that you'll be judged for using substances, staying out all night or spending your weekends dancing. Or that something which gives your life enormous meaning will simply be seen as unhealthy behaviour that needs to stop.

We understand that rave culture can be an important source of community, identity, friendship, freedom and joy.

We also understand that there can be another side to it.

Therapy gives you somewhere to explore all of it.

We're not here to tell you how to live your life. We're here to help you understand yourself, explore what's happening for you and work towards the life you want.

NO JUDGEMENT

You don't have to stop raving to come to therapy

Coming to therapy doesn't mean deciding that you need to stop raving, drinking or using recreational substances.

Perhaps you're perfectly happy with your relationship with partying and want therapy for something completely unrelated.

Perhaps the comedowns have become harder. You're experiencing anxiety or low mood during the week. You're using more than you used to, or partying more often than you really want to.

Maybe you're beginning to wonder whether getting on it every weekend has become a way of escaping from something that doesn't feel so good when the music stops.

You don't need to have figured any of that out before coming to therapy.

We can talk about it openly, honestly and without judgement.

WHAT CAN WE TALK ABOUT?

Pretty much anything.

01

Anxiety and depression

02

Relationships and heartbreak

03

Childhood experiences and trauma

04

ADHD and neurodivergence

05

Loneliness, self-esteem and identity

06

Grief, family, work and stress

07

Alcohol, substance use and addiction

08

Comedowns and post-rave anxiety

Ravers come to therapy for the same reasons everyone else does - including anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, addiction and dependency issues.

And there may be things specifically connected with raving that you'd like to explore - alcohol or recreational substance use, addiction or dependency issues, difficult comedowns, post-rave anxiety, frightening experiences while under the influence, changing relationships with substances, balancing partying with work or family life, or simply wondering whether something needs to change.

Nothing has to be too messy, embarrassing or complicated to talk about.

MEET YOUR THERAPISTS

Susana, integrative psychotherapist and counsellor at Ravers Therapy

SUSANA

Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor

BACP Registered

I'm Susana, a qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor - and I'm also part of the raving community.

That matters to me because you shouldn't have to spend half your therapy session explaining the culture before you can talk about what something actually means to you.

My approach is warm, relational and down-to-earth. I won't tell you how you should live your life or decide what needs to change. Instead, we'll explore what's happening together, understand the experiences and patterns that have shaped you, and work towards changes that feel meaningful to you.

KAREN

Trauma-Informed Therapist

I'm Karen, a trauma-informed therapist with over 11 years' experience supporting adults and young people with anxiety, trauma, overwhelm and the struggles that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.

My approach is gentle, steady and focused on the whole person. I aim to create a space where you can feel safe to be yourself, explore what's happening for you and work towards change at a pace that feels right for you.

I'm also a raver myself, so I understand the connection, freedom and sense of belonging that rave culture can bring. You can talk openly with me about raving, partying and substance use without fear of judgement or misunderstanding.

READY TO TALK?

You don't need to be in crisis to come to therapy, and you don't need to know exactly what's wrong.

Sometimes knowing that something doesn't feel right is enough.
